The LD2412 is a wide-angle + long-range human presence detection millimeter-wave radar sensor. It operates using FMCW (Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave) technology to detect human targets within a defined space. By combining radar signal processing with precise human presence detection algorithms, it achieves high-sensitivity sensing of human presence states. The sensor can identify both moving and stationary humans, and calculate auxiliary information such as target distance.

Ceiling installation: The radar module beam coverage is shown in the figure below. The coverage area is a 3-meter radius area.

Wall-mounted installation: The radar module beam coverage is shown in the figure below. The coverage area is about 9 meters in radial direction.

Precautions:

If the radar needs to be installed in a shell, the shell must have good wave transmission characteristics in the 24GHZ frequency band and cannot contain metal or materials that shield electromagnetic waves:

This product needs to be installed in a suitable environment. If used in the following environment, the detection effect will be affected:

1.         There are non-human objects that are constantly moving in the sensing area, such as curtains that are constantly swinging by animals and large green plants facing the air outlet.

2.         There is a large area of ​​strong reflective planes in the sensing area, and strong reflective objects facing the radar antenna will cause interference.

3.         ·When hanging on the wall, it is necessary to consider external interference factors such as air conditioners and electric fans on the top of the room.

Precautions during installation

1.         Try to ensure that the radar antenna is facing the area to be detected, and the antenna is open and unobstructed.

To ensure that the sensor is installed firmly and stably, the shaking of the radar itself will affect the detection effect.

2.         To ensure that there is no movement or vibration of objects on the back of the radar. Because radar waves are penetrating, the back lobe of the antenna may detect moving objects on the back of the radar. Metal shielding covers or metal back plates can be used to shield the back lobe of the radar to reduce the impact of objects on the back of the radar.

3.         When there are multiple 24GHz radars, please avoid direct beam alignment and install them as far away as possible to avoid possible mutual interference.

Power supply precautions: The power supply ripple has no obvious spectrum peak within 100 kHz. This solution is a reference design. Users need to consider the corresponding electromagnetic compatibility design such as ESD and lightning surge.
